Plush Keychain Project Instructions

• Place water soluble stabilizer on top of the plush fabric (so the stitches don’t get lost in the plush fabric). You can pin the stabilizer in place if needed - it may stick to the fabric naturally.
• Run the tackdown stitching to hold everything in place, then proceed with the main embroidery design.

Step 3:

• Cut a piece of ribbon about 2" long. Fold in half.
• Place ribbon in center of design (or where you would like your attachment to go), folded side towards center of hoop, with about 1/3" of the ribbon inside the edge stitch, as shown. Secure with tape.

Step 4:

• Place second square of plush fabric onto the hoop, right side down, making sure the nap is pointing down as well. Secure with tape.
• Run the seam stitch.

Step 5:

• Remove tape, unhoop the project, and remove tearaway stabilizer.
• Cut away excess fabric, leaving no less than 1/3” seam allowance. Cut slightly closer around corners, or notch the corners.
• Turn project rightside out and tear away the water soluble stabilizer. Wash away any remaining stabilizer if necessary, and let the project dry completely before stuffing.

Step 6:

• Once dry, stuff the keychain, then hand sew the opening closed. To hide the tail of the thread easily, put the needle all the way through the plush, pull tightly, and cut thread close. Once cut, fluff up the plush with your fingers, and the thread will disappear inside.
